A leader in the railway and transit technology, began an initiative to update its locomotive LCD monitor’s backlight design, presenting a multifaceted challenge that extended beyond achieving simple compatibility goals. The primary objective was to align the color temperature of an upgraded LED rail with a previously utilized Sharp CCFL display, emphasizing the need for meticulous attention to detail and precision. AGDisplays undertook the challenge of securing support from an LED manufacturer for specific binning ranges, paving the way for a solution that would guarantee color temperature uniformity throughout the 7-10+ year lifespan of the project.
A secondary challenge involved ensuring the safety and reliability of the LED rail design within the integrated system. Recognizing the critical importance of safety in applications such as railway and transit, AGDisplays introduced a sophisticated feature to the design—a dual circuit LED system with alternating LEDs per string. This design innovation served as an additional safety measure, providing redundancy and enhancing the reliability of the overall system.
